Description:

Each year the State GIS Coordinator requests local level GIS data per Proviso 103.2 of the 2022-23 Appropriations Act (and subsequent versions) to be used for the purposes set forth therein and as may otherwise be permitted by statute. One specific dataset that was requested from our local government partners was Zip Codes boundaries. RFA obtained local government Zip Code data in July 2022 and compared the data with locally provided statewide address points and centerlines as of July 2022 to produce a more accurate Zip Code layer for public consumption. Zip codes boundaries were finalized by reconciling them against the locally provided address points, centerlines, and parcels. When discrepancies were identified, RFA adjusted Zip Code boundaries to match the locally provided data. This updated Zip Code layer will be beneficial in ensuring the accuracy of geocoding services.
